Editorial Standards

Every CiviUpdate brief is built around five required sections:

  • Why It Matters

  • What We Know

  • What Is Disputed

  • What We Do Not Know

  • Sources

Evidence Rating

High Confidence: Supported by primary documents, official records, direct statements, or multiple credible sources.
Moderate Confidence: Supported by credible reporting, but some details remain incomplete.
Low Confidence: Early, developing, or limited information.
Unverified: Not published as fact.

Anonymous Sourcing

CiviUpdate avoids vague attribution such as “sources say.” Anonymous sourcing may only be used when there is a clear reason, the source’s access is explained, and the claim is corroborated when possible.
